Mycology Lab 101

About

  • A practical-theoretic class on how to design and operate a small scale Mycology Lab. From introducing sterile technique and building starter laboratories, to starting cultures from of cuttings and spores, all the way up through small scale commercial spawn production.
  • Students will learn about mycelium expansion techniques, spore printing, cloning wild mushrooms, using liquid culture, making grain spawn, and scaling up spawn production.
  • A depth of information is presented, but the pace and language used also accommodates people unfamiliar with mushroom growing. Students receive a handout with resources and information from the class, and a starter culture of their choice (liquid culture, agar plate, or grain spawn
